How to Open Your Fifth-Generation iPod Video:
To open your fifth-generation iPod Video:
1. Turn the iPod on its side and locate the gap between both front and back panels.
2. Take a plastic tool/flat-headed screwdriver and carefully but firmly wedge it into the side of the iPod at the position you located in (1).
3. Carefully slide the plastic tool or the flat-headed screwdriver down the side of the iPod Video to release all the clips that hold it together.
4. Gently lift the back. Don’t take it all the way off just yet. Notice that there are two ribbon cables connecting the back to the logic board of the iPod (see Step 1).
5. Unplug the cables from the logic board one at a time (see Step 2). The connectors are each held with a slide clip. Release the clips, and retrieve the cables. Take care, the cables tear easily.
6. With the cables unattached to the logic board, retrieve the back panel (see Step 3).
7. With the cables unattached to the logic board, retrieve the back panel (see Step 3).
